Thinking about building a pond?

If you are "thinking about it", here is some information that may help clarify the issues and lead you to a correct decision.  First of all, why do you want a pond?  Will it serve one purpose or several? (if swimming is the only purpose, consider building a pool.)  Do you have adequate space available?  Even a small (1/4 acre pond) will need 1/2 acre or more of your property.  Do you have an adequate water supply?  Do you need a permit?  Those and many other questions must be answered before you begin construction.
