Ponds

Preble County has about 500 ponds.  They are very prominent feature of many rural properties throughout the county.  Most are used for recreational purposes such as swimming or fishing but they may serve a number of other purposes as well.  Included among these uses are fire protection, picnic areas, boating, ice skating, and wildlife observation areas.  Typical ponds range in size from one quarter of an acre to a few acres.  Owning a pond can result in many pleasurable experiences.  Deciding whether or not to construct a pond, however, can be intimidating and even disappointing if not approached carefully.
