Keith
Schmidt
Mr. Schmidt and
his wife Bev have two sons and reside in Jackson Township. Along with their son
Jeff, they produce corn and soybeans in Jackson and Jefferson Townships. Keith
no tills soybeans and minimum tills corn. Grassed waterways have been installed
where needed and he has been using variable rate fertilizer application and
GPS. Keith is a Pioneer Seed Sales Representative and a Certified Crop
Consultant. He has a Degree from Clark State in Farm Management. Some of his
community involvement includes: being a member of Concord United Christ Church;
a member of Farm Bureau; a past County Committee Member of FSA; FFA alumni; an
Extension Advisory Board Member for Jackson Township; and a lifetime member of
the Preble County Pork Festival Committee.
Daniel
A. Hayes Mr. Hayes farms approximately
900 acres mainly in Israel Township. He and wife Maribeth and three
children reside on Israel Somers Road. His operation is mainly grain crops
but he raises cattle as well. He has worked closely with the Preble SWCD
in Nutrient Management and establishing grass waterways. He uses no till
almost exclusively. Dan utilizes a farming program which uses reduced
pesticides rates. Dan attends Fairhaven
Community Church where he teaches Sunday School and serves as a trustee.
He is a Farm Bureau member. Dan serves on the Preble County Zoning
Planning Board. He has served as a Preble SWCD supervisor since 1994.
Lewis
Jones Mr. Jones retired from
farming in 2002. He farmed 400 acres of corn and soybeans. His
operation was completely no till. Lewis continues to be very active in
agriculture. His educational background includes attending Purdue
University Agricultural short courses. Lewis
and his wife Margaret reside in Lakengren. They attend and are very active
in the Camden United Methodist Church. He is a member of the Preble County
Farm Bureau. Lewis has served continuously as a Preble SWCD supervisor
since 1985. He is a member of the Miami Valley Resource Conservation &
Development (RC&D) Council.
James
Leedy Mr. Leedy and wife Amy live
in Twin Township and have three children. He farm's 1000 acres of corn,
soybeans, wheat and hay in several townships. Jim also operates a 4000
finish hog operation and manages 250 head of beef calves each year. Jim
has installed 2 settling basins with filter strip, a composting facility and
waterway practices on his property. He graduated from The Ohio State
University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. He is a
member of Farm Bureau, the Ohio Cattleman's Association, and a Preble SWCD
Supervisor since 1983.
Donn Kolb Mr.
Kolb owns and operates 348 acres in Gasper Township. He grows corn,
soybeans, wheat and hay. Donn has no tilled some of his crops since
1976. He has no tilled all his corn since 1980 and all his soybeans since
1986. Donn and wife JoAnn live on Paint
Creek Road. He earned a Civil Engineering degree at the University of
Cincinnati. He worked as an Engineer with the Ohio Department of
Transportation from which he has retired. He is a registered Professional
Engineer and registered Professional Surveyor. Donn
is in his fifth term as a Preble SWCD board supervisor. He was recognized
as Preble SWCD Outstanding Cooperator in 1979. Donn has installed several
grass waterways through the years to improve his land on his farms.
